We’ve just been notified that a close friend of ours is three months on the way and they’re expecting their second child by mid-September. This is the fourth or fifth notification we’ve received since this January so it’s another year of baby boom among in our circle of friends. Before I know it, we’ll get invited once again to baby shower parties one after another, then christenings…then first birthdays. It’ll be another round again, just like last year, of shopping for baby slings that we can gift the mothers-to-be and my little son’s playmates-to-be. 1. Exercise regularly to help keep the blood pressure within the normal range.
2. Drink plenty of fluids every day, especially water to flush out toxins.
3. Don’t give up makeup completely.
4. Get plenty of rest, take regular breaks during the day to relax and unwind, eat nutritious food, and make sure you get out of the house.
5. Remind yourself that you are beautiful.

A “What If” Instance

When I entered college, I had this goal to graduate with an Accounting major degree and consequently become a Certified Public Accountant later on. The first one and a half years of my pre-commerce years were directed on that path until I decided that accounting seemed not for me. So instead, I spent my majoring years taking up Business Administration, upon my Dad’s encouragement and influence, too. I perfectly love what my career with such background (degree) has become. However, there sometimes comes a point when I wonder “what if” I pursued my first plan. Perhaps I could be working in the top accounting firms abroad by now or maybe in a Las Vegas accounting firm which most of my CPA friends are yearning to work for. I’ve heard about KondlerCPA a lot not only as one of the high-notch accounting firms in Nevada but a very welcoming enterprise to work for. Incorporating the recent destructive strategies that hit the country and one of the top rating primetime TV show’s “Bro” (pertaining to the Lord Almighty), it is simply moving and truly heartfelt by every Pinoys. They can relate with the message conveyed about having faith, hope and a brighter disposition in life. The melody’s captivating too and it’s so easy to get the tune and sing along with.

Call Center Industry in the Philippines

The call center industry has definitely contributed a lot to our economy. The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector is regarded worldwide as one of the fastest growing industries and the Philippines remain as a top BPO destination because of various factors favorable to investors like competent but affordable labor force, advanced and better power, information technology(IT), telephony and telecommunications infrastructure, and the support the government is willing to extend to the foreign investors on tax incentives.

Despite the world recession and while the companies from the different sectors are retrenching and laying off employees, the call center industry remains strong. In fact, in the former call center company I worked for, their expansion efforts are still ongoing. They just inaugurated their 2 newest sites, one in Makati and another one in Laguna. Then I think there’s also another impending project going on. After Ketsana, Here Comes Parma.

After the Filipinos mercilessly received the right hook punch of Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana), here comes another blow, probably a left hook this time courtesy of Typhoon Pepeng (Parma). The weather bureau alerted everyone to prepare as this super typhoon with winds of 195 kilometres per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 235 kph is much stronger over Ondoy’s 85-kph center winds.

Parma’s strength is classified as Category 4 and according to the Saffir-Simpson damage scale, the potential damage it can cause at landfall are as follows:

* Curtainwall failures with some complete roof structure failures on small residences.
* Shrubs, trees, and all signs are blown down.
* Complete destruction of mobile homes.
* Extensive damage to doors and windows.
* Low-lying escape routes may be cut by rising water 3-5 hours before arrival of the centre of the storm.
* Major damage to lower floors of structures near the shore.
* Terrain lower than 3 metres (10 feet) above sea level may be flooded requiring massive evacuation of residential areas as far inland as 10 km (6 miles).

There is also the potential for flooding further inland due to heavy rain.

Wordless Wednesday: Immersed

One of the depressing sights in our neighborhood last weekend when Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) caused massive flooding in Metro Manila and nearby areas. Over 200 lives were lost, millions worth of destroyed properties, countless families homeless now…but Filipinos are resilient and as one nation, we’ll bounce back and surpass this adversity.

Choosing Our Battles.

The comments of a certain Jacque Bermejo on Facebook and a YuBin Kim (UglyYubin) on Twitter sparked the emotions of most Filipino netizens recently. Definitely, these insensitive comments are totally uncalled for. In fact, I felt like bombarding them, too, with hateful replies along with the other angry comments of many but I realized that these two girls don’t deserve my attention.

As I’ve said on my FB, I really do wish that people learn to choose their battles carefully. Yes, it’s annoying to read such derogatory comments but with all honesty, I find reading ill-tempered, cursing replies flooding my Twitter and Facebook feeds more annoying. I mean this is not the right time and bickering back is not even the right way of having our emotions and thoughts get across. We can refute and prove them wrong by not stooping down on their level. Instead of retweeting and reposting their pages and images and instead of taking time and effort to put up hate sites for these two, why we not just focus instead on helping our unfortunate brethren who still needs immediate relief from this Ondoy tragedy.

C’mon we know that what they said are not true. We know better so please avoid biting on to their baits.

A fire can not be killed with a gasoline. It will eventually die down if we keep it still and untouched.
