I really commend my son’s nanny not only for taking care of my son very well but is so caring for me as well.  The power outage that lasted so long yesterday piled up so many of my online works so when she saw how I was so swamped and focused with my work a while ago, she offered to cook our lunch and even prepared the table.  I didn’t stand up at once.  So in her fourth attempt of calling me, she caught my attention by saying that despite so being busy with work, I should never let myself starve.  She seemingly made a sermon how should I prioritize my health over anything else.  I did not get offended nor took it wrongly because she was absolutely right.  Every point raised was true.  So before she sounds like a Doctor and give me a homily or discuss about serious stuffs like vascular surgery and cardiac surgery and other health concerns, I stood up then proceeded to the dining table and ate my lunch.  It was a hearty one, by the way.  She cooked Monggo and malunggay with tinapa (smoked fish) as a complement.  A very healthy dish, indeed.  In this era when fatal illnesses are so common like lung cancer and other types of cancer, eating right and living a healthier lifestyle should be our utmost concern. So big thanks to Yayie, for reminding me that today.

We didn’t have lavish date plans actually as our Sunday was extremely busy with other non-Valentine related errands. When we got home in the afternoon at 5 pm, we both instantly craved for pasta and pizza. Originally, it would just be the two of us but knowing how the little one loves pasta, we tagged him and his nanny along, thus, it was a Valentines Family Dinner.

We didn’t wander further as Don Henrico’s West Ave is just a few minutes drive from our place. All in all, we had a pleasant experience dining in this resto just like the first time. Despite it was already 7 pm when we arrived, there was an ample parking space, reservation was swift and we were seated right away at Table # 4. Seeing that we have a toddler, the staff offered us a high chair immediately.

We were given the menu and these satisfied our tummies:
1. Don Henrico’s Thin Onion Rings
2. Philly Steak Cheese Pizza with thin crust
3. Lasagna
4. Fettuccini Ala King
5. Buffalo Wings

Food started to fill our table in less than 15 minutes, I think, since the time our order was taken. They must have carefully and strategically anticipated the volume orders on special occasions like this. Their service was fairly fast despite the numerous diners continuously coming in at a peak hour (7 PM).

We feasted and satisfied our taste buds down to the last spoon. Need not comment anymore how great the food was because big tummies (including that of the little one) and the husband’s guilt and thoughts about discount diet pills while eating are fine proofs that they were all indeed scrumptious.

The little one was also given a bunch of Valentines red balloons (one of their decors) without us requesting probably after seeing how my balloon lover son fascinated over them. We also got a free red Don Henrico’s heart pillow after meeting their required minimum order amount for the Valentines promo.

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in our neck of the woods but I’m one with my US-based friends and relatives as well as with the whole American nation in celebrating this holiday. No, we won’t be gobbling a big Thanksgiving feast tonight (roasted turkey, mashed potato, pumpkin pies complete with a Fastin to neutralize the fats and avoid the holiday weight gain) but I’m participating in the Black Friday shopping mania tomorrow through a friend. So the result of this quiz is absolutely true. I’ve listed down the irresistible deals I saw over at Walmart and I hope that my friend will have enough energy to join the thick crowd of shoppers all giddy to take advantage of the early Thanksgiving shopping in the mall.

He certainly loved his choco fudge and his smile says it all. He’s at the stage when he doesn’t want to be guided when using his spoon and fork. He wants to do it by himself which we just allow even though he gets filthy. We let him explore because it is in these things that he learn and discover the world. Does he look like he needs the best fat burner? Nah, actually, my son may have a voracious appetite but the picture is just deceiving as he has a lean body built.
