If you stop to consider tradition of clothing, you’ll realize that the main reasons historically for covering ourselves is for modesty and for protection from the elements — sunburn, frostbite, wind, etc. But at some point clothing became more than simply functional; the way people dressed became a way to assert individuality and a way to be different from or the same as everyone else. People now find delight, entertainment, amusement, and fulfillment (or perhaps consternation, distress, frustration, and stress) in displaying their own personal style through fashion.
Clothing can actually be a great way to add some fun to life. Even if you aren’t passionate about it, or don’t have a lot of money to spend, it can be invigorating to get into fashion, find your style, and make it your own.
Tips

Experiment with accessories. Accessories are the easiest way to add flair to an outfit without having to change too much. Add a unique necklace or a cute belt or some bangle bracelets to make your outfit look more put together.
Hats are a great way to make an outfit interesting. Pageboy hats are really cute on girls or perhaps even a beret-style hat (think French) for instant interest.
Shoes are another way to turn an outfit into something different. Experiment with tall leather boots (the fastest way to look fashionable) coupled with calf-length pants. Western boots look cute with a print button-down dress. Or pair some chunky sandals with a pair of slacks.
You can use your hair as an accessory — style it to match the outfit. Try adding in colored clip-in extensions for a playful look . . . and go punk without the commitment!
Color. It’s so easy to wear black most of the time, but color adds more interest. Color is especially wonderful in the spring and summer.

I still can’t believe that I was able to buy this dress at such a very cheap deal. Who would’ve thought that this dress being sold at Php 450 in Facebook online shops just cost me Php 250 last Sunday in a nearby tiangge? I’m really glad that I decided not to place my order in a whim upon seeing this online last week. Two hundred bucks difference is huge that I managed to snag not just one but three dresses (of different styles, of course)! There were a lot of tops and dresses that I was drooling over but I just knew that the husband would not approve so I controlled and got myself contented with just three. Now I’m thinking of buying plenty from the same shop this coming weekend then perhaps venture into online selling as well. Facebook seems to be the hottest marketplace now on the web as everyone’s in it and displaying goods is as easy as 1-2-3. Or, probably, I can set up my own website to showcase my goods since I’m a bit knowledgeable setting up such. But, if ever, I’d still want to have business postcards as a marketing tool where I can indicate my online shop’s website for distribution anywhere. So aside from the search engines, I’d have these offline means to work on the marketing aspect of the business. Let’s see where this business plans will lead me.

The opening of Forever 21’s flagship store in SM Megamall last week is the recent hype among many shopaholic fashionistas out there. Even my online friends were talking about it a few days ago as some of them have already entered and shopped a little in the store. It seems that the response was positive as evidenced by the continuous support and testimonials of shoppers in their Facebook page.

When the husband and I prepared for our wedding five years ago, our attires were one of our least priorities. It’s not that we cared less about them but more of we were after practicality more than the name (designer). I admired certainly the works of the popular couture and big names then but my mind was dead set working around in a given budget. I know that I can “get more with a less”. And truly, the less popular designer I sought delivered very well the wedding gown design I had in mind. My wedding dress was simple yet it brought out the bloom in me, as testified by guests and friends.

The husband’s mindset was similar to mine. We didn’t bother checking out mens formalwear in the malls. We agreed that a tuxedo rental would be the smartest choice. Our penny pincher selves opted to just rent instead of buying since coats and tuxedos are very expensive yet they’ll just be worn very rarely.

The only drawback in this move was that there weren’t much formalwear rental for men within the metro. We had a hard time looking for one.
