Not Late, I Hope.

I hope this greeting isn’t too late.

As you’ve noticed, I have been missing in action because a lot of offline activities came my way before Christmas. The most overwhelming and devastating, I may add, is that my son got sick and was hospitalized for four days. He got a bad case of colds and cough that lead to asthma then it got worst to pneumonia. He got discharged just the other day. Just in time for our Christmas celebration at home. Nevertheless, we’re thankful for, first: he’s okay now and recuperating very well. Second, we’re grateful that we celebrated Christmas at home and not in the hospital and third, big thanks to affordable health insurance. The husband’s HMO took care of everything so we didn’t shell out that much. So that’s how our Holiday has been so far. I’ll blog more in the days to come about our festivities. How was yours?

The husband can attest how forgetful I’ve become. Sometimes he will just laugh it off and jokingly remind me how the anesthesia I got when I gave birth and had my gall bladder removal surgery last year is now taking its effect badly. But the truth is, research says anesthesia does cause minor memory loss post operation period but not long enough to last through years. Doctors and research says occasional memory lapses or forgetfulness may be associated with depression, stress, lack of sleep, and normal aging. Yikes, I think there’s a little more emphasis on the last one.

My way of coping up with this memory lapses, is that I do take down notes. I have an organizer where I write important stuffs to do, things to blog, appointments, etc. But since I’m online for most hours of the day, I’ll be trying this new organizer free service on the web called Springpad. Simply put, it’s an online tool that lets you collect, organize and share information among fellow Springpad users. This comes very handy this Holiday season, the time when Christmas activities can get really overwhelming. It can let you store gift ideas, travel plans, recipes, the wines you served and drank or any to-do tasks you might have. You can also set it to alarm and remind you via email so no memory lapses to blame should these tasks are left undone. Another cool feature this tool has is that, you can share with fellow Springpad users where they can get ideas from your list and vice versa.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s a brand new week once again but we’re welcoming it with an extraordinary festive mode because it’s December 1st tomorrow! Whew! The busiest month of the year is finally here and I can just sense how overwhelming it can get.

We have so much tasks to do and topping the list is Christmas gifts shopping. Although I have already started a few weeks back, we still have loads to take care of and perhaps a number of bazaars and malls to raid.

Online, well, I have always been busy because of my writing projects and works. The season also means photo overload so storing these photos in my EHD and online backup tasks are just necessary since it won’t be until the season ends before I can have them all printed.

Reunions, get-togethers, parties. I expect endless food feasts and I am already conditioned that I’ll be a gastronomer this month. Fun..fun..and more fun.

Family getaway. We’ve got a new huge luggage and I have also ordered the little one’s Avent Tempo Nurser bottle for a more organized and less stuffed travel baggage. Got new jammies too for the little one to withstand the cool nights of Baguio.

Despite being the busiest month, December remains my favorite month because it simply is the happiest time of the year. And just as the song goes…

“It’s the most wonderful of the year….”

Since the grandmother took over that she’ll be the one to gift Little A a plasma car which is supposedly our Christmas gift for him, we’re now having a hard time thinking of new options. It would be easy to give him clothes and apparels but since it’s Christmas, we want something that it’s really extra special and a thing that he won’t be receiving from anybody else this season.

It was the other month when the husband brought out his matchbox collectibles that he owned since he was a kid. He kept and vowed to preserve them for his future son. I was adamant at first and told him that it might be too early for the little one to appreciate it. Besides it’s advisable for kids to play such toys not until they turn 3. I was surprised though to see that my little tot enjoyed and he knew right away how to play the matchboxes. What I “Need” For Christmas

With my Acerito’s (the laptop) unreliable condition, I have already given up the Blackberry dream for Christmas. This is a simple picture of a “need versus want” because no doubt, a laptop is a necessity in my line of work while a Blackberry can wait (until my birthday..hehe). I have already made Santa agree and he has promised that I will get what I “need” before Christmas…errr hopefully, real soon. I perfectly understand that he’s just waiting for the right timing. In fact, he has given me last night a brochure of a computer store where it features their laptops that are offered in with 0% installment scheme on credit cards. Probably, he wants to get a hint like what brand, model and specs do I want.

Basing on the models, I think I’d likely go for a HP model this time either a Compaq Presario CQ40-551TU or a Compaq Presario CQ-40-517TU. It has a very minimal price difference yet the specs specifically on the memory is the decisive factor. Budget-wise though, an HP Mini would surely get a thumbs up sign from him. But I don’t know, perhaps, I need to email him now of these HP coupon codes I found on the web so that he can right away purchase my Christmas gift with whopping discounts and great deals without having to wait for the Black Friday Sale or any other stores sales soon.

I’m still not sure if we’re heading there this year in favor of a much more important project we’re saving for. Just a tip, don’t bring your small kids anymore so it’ll be easier to hoard and snag loots from a very eager crowd. As for the timing, lots of toys and wide array of options are available on earlier dates but do expect a thick crowd and very loooooong queues in the cashier. Also, if you don’t want to be tempted and splurge much, just bring a limited amount of cash.
