Aside from blogging and writing articles, I’ve got a new job (through Odesk) that’s been keeping me loaded with quite a handful task for two months now. “Linkbuilder” is what I just included to my title in my Odesk profile page. Since I’ve been blogging and monetizing my blogs through link posts and link ads, with confidence, I applied to the job and fortunately, I got accepted in this SEO type of work. The task is quite easy although it can be quite time consuming most of the time as I need to scour for sites where I can build the advertiser’s links on. It’s a good thing that I’ve established a circle of good sites and contacts but as the internet is so diverse and so with the world of SEOs, I am continuously on a hunt for good pages and sites to work with. So far, I’m enjoying this new task and the good pay that comes with it.

Since I’m bit by bit establishing myself in this type of work, I’m also looking at the possibility of trying out Social Media Marketing (SMM) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) in the future. I’m leaning towards SEM first since SEO is already a part of it. It’s just has a wider scope and it involves more diverse techniques in lead generation. For the mean time, I’ll keep myself abreast with how contextual advertising goes and the different advertising forms like cost per action (CPA), cost per click (CPP), cost per thousand (CPT) and all other advertising models from a digital agency. I know of one CPA ad network that I can study for now and hopefully in no time, I’ll also learn the ropes of SEM.

My decision to quit the corporate world two years ago and shift to being a work at home mom is the best decision I’ve ever made as far as motherhood is concerned.

My thoughts about this is summed up in this letter I made for the little one a few months ago:

Dearest Little A,

What a precious sight that I’m beholding right now. I’m writing this letter at nine in the morning while gazing at a sleeping you and a snoring Daddy by your side. You’re having your morning nap while your Daddy is still having his long “night” sleep because he worked overnight in the office. He arrived at home earlier at 6 am. I’m wishing to take a picture of both you so I can wake up my sleepy senses. I feel so draggy and the space between you and daddy is very much inviting me to sleep as well. Mommy has been up since 2 am this morning and just like your Daddy, I worked. Online tasks are flooding Mommy’s way lately that I have to adjust my time, align my priorities and sacrifice a little “me” time just so I can accommodate these extra tasks. I feel so overwhelmed but I am not complaining because more work means more money. We need to save more money so we can buy your needs, take you to Manila Ocean Park soon, to buy us a camcorder (so you will have better videos) and of course, more money for our little mansion. I am just thankful because you know how to entertain and drive away Mommy’s stress with your antics. Just by the sight of your shaking booty, I’m fully energized right away. I am also grateful to your Yayie who’s fondly taking care of you so I can work. Most of all, I am just thankful because Mommy can work without going to the office. That means, I don’t have to leave you here at home and I can smooch and hug you whenever I want. Ahh, the joys and comfort of a work at home mom.

Love you,
Mommy
09.04.09

My stint as work at home mom wouldn’t be possible if not for the following:
1. My Harry (HP G60) laptop
2. A stable and fast internet connection

In this line of work, a fast and reliable internet connection is vital. I’m fortunate that we are subscribed to a fairly fast DSL service. I’m not dealing with an intermittent connection and I am not having problems receiving and sending emails, downloading pertinent files and visiting web sites. But taking a look at US internet providers’ services, the speed of my connection is beyond comparable to the likes of Qwest high speed Internet, for example. The speed of Qwest can go up to an amazing 20 Mbps. (Ours is just up to 4-5 Mbps). Huge, huge difference. I wonder how fast a 20 Mbps can go..perhaps the page has fully loaded even before the URL is entered.

Since we’re talking about Qwest, they also have the so-called Qwest phone service that provides lots of interesting features like unlimited local calling, low nationwide long distance calling rates, no solicitation, caller ID and forwarding, voicemail, three-way calling and a whole lot more.

Perhaps, if my connection is as fast as Qwest, more online income opportunities will come my way because of its faster download time.

I just blogged about how the call center industry has been helping the economy with regards to the foreign investments it has put up in the country within the last decade. Now I suddenly feel nostalgic with my one and a half year stint as a call center Purchasing staff as I saw in Facebook photos and videos of former colleagues about the recent Family Day they held for one of the sites. They posted links about their recent offsite activities as well as a corporate video of the president conveying her congratulatory message to the whole team. Makes me feel proud to have, for once, worked for the company and with the whole team. It’s just sad that I have to cut short my employment term due to some other priorities but nevertheless, I’m glad and thankful for the experience and opportunities given to me.

The congratulatory video from the President was very effective and it moved me. If Groovy Like a Movie has just a local counterpart, I would have readily concluded that it was them who made it with the kind of corporate video production service done. It was really superb and the video quality was truly outrageous. Truly the key values, mission, and goals of the company was very well highlighted in the video.
