The New Wedding Month.

Apparently, I forgot and I was wondering why my Google Reader is oddly filled with wedding-related feeds. It’s just now I realized that it’s June and it’s the wedding month! So that explains why. But here in the country, December nowadays holds the most number of weddings held in a year so I guess, it’s the new wedding month. Further, I’ve heard from a local supplier customizing wedding rings that he indeed gets the most orders for December weddings.

Speaking of weddings, a close college friend of mine who’ll get wed later this year just shared her engagement proposal story and how her fiancé lavishly showered her with not just one but two diamond engagement rings! Knowing how his fiancée adores diamonds and since he can’t decide between two nicely designed rings, he bought both of them. It’s just funny because it might appear that my friend is engaged to two different men if she wears them at the same time. But I think that’s much more acceptable than his fiancé wearing two men’s wedding rings after the wedding. That will be a different story then.

When the husband and I prepared for our wedding five years ago, our attires were one of our least priorities. It’s not that we cared less about them but more of we were after practicality more than the name (designer). I admired certainly the works of the popular couture and big names then but my mind was dead set working around in a given budget. I know that I can “get more with a less”. And truly, the less popular designer I sought delivered very well the wedding gown design I had in mind. My wedding dress was simple yet it brought out the bloom in me, as testified by guests and friends.

The husband’s mindset was similar to mine. We didn’t bother checking out mens formalwear in the malls. We agreed that a tuxedo rental would be the smartest choice. Our penny pincher selves opted to just rent instead of buying since coats and tuxedos are very expensive yet they’ll just be worn very rarely.

The only drawback in this move was that there weren’t much formalwear rental for men within the metro. We had a hard time looking for one. Grooms in the US are luckier as they have several designer tuxedos and suits rental shops to choose from. One of them is Dapper Dan’s located in Arizona. As viewed from their website, they have a wide range of tuxedos and suits of all styles and for all sizes. Whatever the occasion and how urgent the requirement is, they can meet one’s needs as they offer delivery, pick-up and same-day services. The prices seem competitive too because they even have tux packages for as low as $50. That’s such a nice steal for a rental.

The reason perhaps is that I have experienced being a bride myself so I have a first hand experience how overwhelming and amazing it is to get married to the man of your dreams and you have everyone jubilantly celebrating with you. NBA Wedding Proposal Gone Wrong.

I’ve heard a lot of languishing, and if I may add, humiliating unsuccessful wedding proposal stories. Just search the keywords “wedding proposal gone wrong” on Youtube, and you’ll get tons of video results. This is one of the videos I’ve seen and I could say that this might have probably been one of the most humiliating and pathetic proposals that I’ve seen.

Poor guy. Imagine, this was not only witnessed by thousands of live basketball spectators but talk about the billions of NBA televiewers worldwide. Even superstar Tracy McGrady couldn’t control himself from chuckling.

Now tell me, what do you think could have been the girl’s reason for saying “NO”:

1.) The guy is a complete stranger and is proposing at the wrong girl.
2.) The girlfriend was completely caught off guard, got crack-brained and just didn’t know what to do but run away from the crowd’s eyes.
3.) She didn’t like the engagement ring.

Of course, I’m just fusing some humor here. Most probably, the girl’s not just ready yet for a lifetime commitment. But seriously, lesson learned here for guys out there: Do not propose in public unless you’re 100% sure she’ll say YES. I know, it’s challenging to determine that but somehow you’ll get hints and if you know your girl that really well, it’ll be pretty easy.

Another tip, look for that perfect and unique engagement ring that will surely captivate her eyes.
