The NBA Champs.

And so the Purple and Gold Team defeated the Green Team in a do-or-die heart-stopping basketball NBA championship game earlier. Everyone was glued on TV as they rooted for their teams. It can be seen on the screen that the Staples Center was rocking because of all those excited fans. I heard that tickets were sold out even though they were exaggeratingly priced. Even the farthest end of the coliseum was filled and albeit they have to use a binocular for a closer view, they didn’t mind.

Personally, I was cheering for the Boston Celtics. Not because I’m a huge fan of theirs but because the husband placed a bet for them. So yes, the husband’s Php1K poorer because of this game.

Give Golf a Try.

My husband is a certified sports lover. He plays and so into basketball. NBA, PBA, UAAP and all other basketball leagues, he really watches them and would know about the latest scoops about each teams. Other sports that he finds interesting are table tennis, volleyball, baseball, soccer, swimming, UFC, wrestling and a lot more. He’s a pretty well rounded guy when it comes to sports but I don’t know what’s with golf that he finds it boring and uninteresting. I believe that if ever he tries, he’ll make a good golf player because he’s very good with estimations and angles. He’s an Engineer. The only factor I can think of that makes him uninterested with this sports is that he abhors the fact that he has to do it under the sun. He doesn’t want to get darker any further.

But seriously, I think he should give this sports a try. I wouldn’t mind going walking around the golf course (especially if it’s as lovely as the Myrtle Beach golf courses) teeing with him. I would also volunteer to be his caddy if he wants to. Only I have to set a weight limit since I’m skinny and fairly small. They say that golf is a sports for the affluent people. The most awaited boxing fight of the year will take place a few minutes from now. So here in our hometown, expect that all eyes will be glued on TV as they watch the Philippines’ pride and the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer, Manny Pacquiao aims for a record-breaking 7th world title against the welterweight champion Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.

A delayed telecast will be shown in a local channel but internet savvy users are already rummaging their way finding free manny pacquaio vs. miguel cotto live stream feeds on the web. So just imagine how blogs and sites with these keywords are gaining so much organic hits from Google to their sites. I tried googling just now and I saw tons of blogs that were purposely put up to derive huge amount of traffic and monetize their sites anticipating that a lot will truly find for free live stream links. They mislead searches by putting up those magic keywords but you won’t find any working live streaming link actually. What’s sprawled on their sites are google adsense and other blog monetizing opportunities. Very clever, huh?

Anyway, I hope and pray that Manny will make once again our nation proud and united. So will there be again a zero crime rate within the fight duration?

Wrestling Stuffs

We surely are familiar with the very physical world of wrestling. History has it that wrestling is one of the oldest forms of martial arts that even during the Trojan War era in the 13th and 12th century BC, this tactical activity was widely applied by the mythology warriors. In the current generation, its presence is massively felt as it has become a sports activity in the Olympic arena and even as a form of sports entertainment on TV (WWE). In the US, collegiate or scholastic wrestling is part of several collegiate sports organizations such as the NCAA, the NJCAA, the NAIA, and the NCWA.

These greatly influence the awareness not only in the grown-ups but in youngsters as well. This sport is not actually inappropriate for children to watch so long as they’re guided very well and that they don’t implore wrestling tactics just to mean harm to others. I have a 6-year old nephew who is so into playing the WWE characters on his Playstation that he wishes his folks to buy him some wrestling equipment and wrestling supplies. He says, he wants to dress up like his idols..kids love playing make believe indeed! Unfortunately, his mom couldn’t find a shop that sells such stuffs for his age and size. What Sport Should I Play?

I just took the What Sport Should You Play quiz application in Facebook and take a look at the result:

It says basketball. It’s just funny because I can’t even control or dribble the ball while running so the result is kinda weird. I was hoping that I’d get volleyball since I was a player when way back grade school years and for my PE in college, I aced my Volleyball class. Football could be a more acceptable result because I can run fast because of my slim physique. However, my body might easily get crushed when everybody dives for the football. Yikes! So erase that, I guess I should be more likely stationed by the bleachers as a spectator. UST Tigers Fanatic.

I have been swamped with online works for two weeks now but do you know that there are only three things that can stop me from working and take a computer break?

First, whenever my son demands a breastfeeding session. Second, lunch and merienda time. And lastly, the UAAP bastketball games shown on TV every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday noon. Since the start of the season, I haven’t missed any UST (my alma mater for 8 years) games. I’m so addicted to watching their games even though they are not one of the strong contenders this season. Well, I guess that’s how it is if you are truly loyal and supportive of your alma mater. I remember, I even went to the extent of watching the games live three years ago when I was still bumming and childless. They were the champions for that season and I was fortunate enough to have watched their games from semifinals all the way to the first game (of 3) of the finals. Too bad, I missed the last two and winning games because I got hired already and had to work.

I can also recall my adventures and misadventures in scouring for Araneta tickets. Because you see, tickets really run out fast that sometimes, out of yearning to watch live and out of desperation, most don’t have a choice but resort to buying overly marked up tickets. This should not be the case and Araneta Coliseum and the UAAP board must expand the means and the ticket sources so patrons could get tickets fairly. I know that Araneta sells tickets online but UAAP tickets are excluded.

Ball Fanatic.

At such a young age, my son is already a certified ball addict. In fact, the word “ball” was one of the very first words he enunciated. He pronounces it as “bow” though. But nevertheless, balls have such a great appeal to him that he screams “bow” in delight whenever he sees one. Whether it be a basketball, a football, a golf ball and even anything round that he sees on images, he calls them “bow”. Check out the picture below wherein he points to a favorite image.

Liking balls at this early stage is actually a good start. Just like his Daddy, I want him to grow up athletic and although, not necessarily become a sports buff, I like him to develop interest on sports. I usually overhear his Daddy say, “Asher, grow tall fast so I can teach you basketball already.” I just know that it will be their favorite bonding time. On the other hand, I hope he will get a chance to learn some other sports like swimming, tennis or football. His uncle had all in several summer clinics when he was younger and I won’t be surprised if he follow the same step. I am foreseeing myself buying him shinguards and football cleats, swimming trunks, or a tennis racket in the future. Hmm, it’s just okay..as long as he won’t ask me to buy him a gymnasium then. And as long as he will be bringing home a trophy that will make me one proud mom.
