Baby Toys.

Playing time is essential in a child’s development. The infant’s first years are deeply formative. The skills necessary in physical and emotional development can be nurtured through play. Through playing, babies develop and enhance their motor skills. They respond to touch, taste, smell..basically their senses are stimulated.

Just like any kids, my son, now a toddler, absolutely loves playing. His play time either includes us playing games with him like peek-a-boo and other physical engaging activities.

I’ve already lost count how many toys now are filling Asher’s toy boxes. He has his favorites which he would always play with every single day while there are also toys that are just kept in his toy chest because they simply are unappealing to him. We seldom buy him new toys so I was really surprised on how fast they’ve abounded. He got most of them as birthday and Christmas presents. We’re thankful that most are educational Award Winning Toys and apt for his age and development. I know he’ll get more as he grows bigger and older. But we have to be firm and watchful because we don’t want him to play stuffs that promote violence or simply are dangerous.

Here are some of his favorite Baby Toys and Learning Toys that he has collected and loves playing with until now.

Balls. He has them in different colors and sizes. He loves throwing the plastic balls and kicking his soccer ball which his grandpa gifted him.

Light and Sound Toys. He’s delighted to observe the colorful lights and frequently dances to the music produced and imitates the sounds. They’re perfect as he learns to speak.

Shape Sorters. He hasn’t fully mastered distinguishing the correct shape to go to the proper hole but he’s on the right track. I just have to work on his patience because he easily gives up and gets frustrated if the shape does not fit.

Stacking Toys. He has perfected them. He loves stacking and knocking them down after.

Electronic Language Toys. He has the following Leap Frog toys: Little Touch Leappad, the Learn & Groove® Animal Sounds Guitar, the Learn & Groove® Musical Table and the Spin and Sing Alphabet Zoo.

Right now, it’s noticeable that his interests are changing and these toys are very apt for him:

All About Strollers.

If you are a Mom (or a parent, in general) like me, I know you would agree when I say that strollers or prams or baby carriers are one of the greatest baby stuff inventions. We are able to go out for a walk, for a jog, to the mall or anywhere while tagging our babies along without having to carry them all the time. These baby transports surely provide comfort not only for the baby but for the parents as well.

When I gave birth to my son two years ago, I was fortunate that my Dad sponsored his stroller. Being a newbie Mom, I knew nothing about such and so I didn’t have any particular type or model in mind. If I just researched further like browsed Stroller.com then, I would have known a lot and my son would have been gifted with the nicest stroller that fit our needs. I appreciate my Dad’s gift and we have used the stroller he gave for quite some time but we were not able to maximize it. It was too bulky and heavy that we decided to buy a much lighter umbroller (similar to the umbrella baby planet strollers) when the little one turned 8 months old. Until now that he’s a toddler, that’s what we use every time we go malling.

The Little One’s Loots From The Grannies.

I’m so stoked with all his loots. After “diving” into chocolates, household stuffs, adult apparels and weight loss supplements, I have unearthed Zara Kids, Esprit, Terranova and Mexx boy clothes all in 2T sizes..just perfect for the little one. Gosh, I can and will never afford these apparels from local branches. But my eyes literally popped out when I saw how they were incredibly priced so low in KSA boutiques. For instance, he has this Zara 2T shirt tagged at SR39 sale price. Locally, this would have cost a thousand peso or even more. Doing the math and converting it to peso, my folks just bought them at around Php 480 (SR1 = Php 12.50) from Zara Kids Boutique in Dammam (or Al-Khobar, not sure).

Then there’s this Terranova shirt tagged at SR30 (Php375). But looking closely at the same tag, it’s sold at Php 699 in the Philippines. Now that’s roughly a 50% discounted price. So my tip for those who are Zara fanatics and have relatives and friends working or are based in Saudi, course your Zara Kids and other baby apparel orders through them. It really is a lot cheaper there.

My Little Clay Molder

This was one of the first gifts that my little one opened on Christmas eve.

It’s a Play Doh Fun Factory Set from his Ninang Rogeena. I hid it for the mean time because I think it’s not yet appropriate for his age. Perhaps in a year or in six months, he’s wiser enough to play with the clay and its slab rollers. He might just eat the clay as he may mistakenly think that it’s a food or something that can be taken in. But I appreciate that he’s given such toy. In the future, I’m sure that he’ll enjoy playing “make believe” and create things or animals that fancies out of the colorful clays and accessories like potters wheels. We can research, get inspiration and art and craft lessons for kids at Amaco.com. It’s never too young to teach him art lessons and from Amaco’s informative sections, we can get tips and procedures on how to easily creat puppets, pinatas, paper mache projects, etc. This site also provides information on where we can order art materials and mold making equipment and even processes like wheel throwing. Who knows he may grow up having an inclination to pottery creating vases and ornaments that he can make business with.

Choco Fudge Mustache

He certainly loved his choco fudge and his smile says it all. He’s at the stage when he doesn’t want to be guided when using his spoon and fork. He wants to do it by himself which we just allow even though he gets filthy. We let him explore because it is in these things that he learn and discover the world. Does he look like he needs the best fat burner? Nah, actually, my son may have a voracious appetite but the picture is just deceiving as he has a lean body built.

My School Boy Baby.

Having a pre-school right inside the compound is really advantageous for my 18 month old son. It is also a big help that his grannies (the owners) allow him to join the nursery and Kinder 1 classes once in a while especially during the flag ceremony and their morning nursery rhymes sing-and-dance routine.

Don’t you feel his excitement in these pictures?

He got even excited more when we bought him his first ever backpack where he puts his sketch pad and crayons.

Whenever he hears the school bell ring, he looks for this bag and off he goes to school, too. After the flag ceremony, he takes out his crayons and sketch pad, put his bag in one of the mini Lockers then he proceeds to an empty seat. Yes, he does this by himself as he observed the other kids do it. It helps that my in laws put up low Wood Lockers that are within their reach. He starts doodling while his “classmates” are yet to settle down. It’s just also funny because after a few strokes and doodles, he goes to his teacher and “submits” his work.

This early, my son has developed interest and fondness towards school and I hope that by the time he’ll still have this eagerness or it would be better if he’d be keen and would enjoy schooling even more until he goes to grade school and up to college! But of course, for now, we’re taking his interest easily..I mean we just let him do whatever he wants and we’re not pressuring him to get serious with school works yet. At least for now, we’re teaching him things one at a time and whatever his mind can absorb. As for schooling, for now, orienting him what and who can be seen in the school – teacher, classmates, books, a School Locker, tables, chairs, bags, lunchboxes, Gym Locker, blackboard, etc – is a good way to start nurture his school interest.
