While everyone’s still high with the Oscars results, I’m thinking about something else. Every year, exceptional celebrities are awarded the much coveted ‘golden man’ statue for their entertainment craft. While some may put it in a special spot to showcase it, it’s surprising that some winners put them in the oddest places like Russelle Crowe. He keeps it in his chicken coop because he says, “it inspires the chickens to lay more eggs”. Jodie Foster, on the other hand, used to keep it in the bathroom beside the faucet until the bottom corroded and placed it in a trophy case after. Weird but amusing.
Speaking of the Oscars trophy, I just learned that it is constructed of Britannia metal with gold plating. A number of these was reported stolen perhaps thinking that they can make money out of it. Sorry to burst their bubble but the sale of statuettes was forbidden since 1950’s. So if they think that they can mint the gold or of some sort, I suggest they just buy gold coins instead and learn the ropes of precious metal investment. That’s a sure way to riches especially now that gold value is doing better these past few months. Financial experts say that as the Euro dollar does great against the US dollar, it is expected that the gold industry will further surge.
