Nouveau Riche

What a very busy Halloween weekend it has been. I have lots of stories and pictures to share but I don’t think I can do that right at this very moment. I’m still tired from a day long out of town trip still in connection with the all souls day custom that we observe and so I’m just taking a quick time to blog where the family was today and how I still marvel with what I’ve seen.

Before we visited the grave of a nephew in Bacolor, we dropped by and fetched my SIL’s family from her in- laws’ ancestral home in the same town. As always, I can’t help but astonished with how nice and grand the place is. It’s situated in a very huge lot, with an inviting swimming pool and resthouse, colorful garden, lots of fruit-bearing trees everywhere, a very big farm on the side with wandering farm animals and of course, the “mansion” which has even expanded and now has 7 bedrooms, 5 toilet and baths, 2 dirty kitchen areas and huge garage that can accommodate 7 vehicles. The impression of first timer there could get him to think that the owner is nouveau riche. Well, having them known for several years now, the title “nouveau riche” is partly true. They may have been in the real estate business for a number of years now but it’s just recently that they hit it big. Their housing development company flourished and has expanded to several projects now. I recall the story of their humble beginnings and because of their hard work and persistence, it’s not surprising to see how they have become nouveau riche as they continue to reap the fruits of their labor.

Their property actually inspired us and intensified our little mansion dream.  Who knows, in the future, we could also venture into real estate investment and be able to experience the nouveau riche feeling.
