Do You Shop ‘Til You Drop or Are You An Impractical Shopper?

I may be trying to live frugally these past few months because of a big project that we’re taking on but I think, the interest in shopping is innate to every woman. It just varies in different degrees though. I’m no of a guru who claims expertise in studying a certain human behavior nor an expert financial adviser. But I just want to share two contrasting types of shoppers I came to observe upon certain people.

shoppingThere are those who “shop til they drop”. No very detailed and intense persuasion or sales talk required, they’d readily buy a certain item that pleases them no matter how expensive an item is. Sometimes the need for it is not an issue but they buy because the experience of acquiring and owning of that thing gives them great pleasure and satisfaction. In my humble opinion, there’s nothing really wrong with such as long as they have the means, the moolah to finance their whims. Often, if they don’t have the ready cash at the time being, their credit cards come to their rescue. Again, nothing’s wrong here. What’s not correct is when one buy excessively and on impulse not even thinking if they have the capacity to pay for it or to pay in the future the credit they’re taking advantage of. This is when many credit card holders fall deep in the pit of debts because they tend to abuse. Another thing, there are those who buy massively on impulse and then moments later, they tend to self-pity and childishly whine that they don’t have money anymore.

The second one is the other side of the swing..the “impractical shopper”. Out of her extreme desire to scrimp, she always settles for anything that is the cheapest. Not thinking about the durability, the quality..as long as it’s the cheapest, it’s the best for her. Nothing’s wrong with scrimping and valuing money that much. But do remember that not all inexpensive things are practical. Just imagine how much cost one will incur in a year if for example, one settles for the cheapest Womens Dresses that can only last for a month the longest as compared to buying a little more expensive Womens Apparel but durable and can last for the whole year.

In these economic difficult times, the money handling practice to learn is the art of “wise spending”. If there is a sale, shop reasonably. Analyze if there is really a need to buy it. Knowing our priorities, setting a goal, and careful buying of what we just need are just among the several ways of practicing it. Most importantly, we must not spend above what we have.
