Hate Is Taught.

It’s just recently that I joined Adgitize and even though I am yet to receive my first cash rebate by next month, I’m enjoying my daily Adgitize rounds because I get to read and stumble upon interesting blog entries like this particular post I just read.

The post is entitled: Who Taught You To Hate?

I totally agree with her sentiment that racism and more specifically hate exist because it’s just a vicious cycle that is passed and unconsciously taught from generation to generation.

Yes, taught.

**I’ll not go any further to illustrate this. Aren’t you surprised how your kids and toddlers, the moment they can understand words or learn to talk, the first few words they knew about are “hate” and “kill” and “enemies”?

If they see a crawling or flying small creature, we unconsciously command them to “kill the mosquito, etc”.
If they accidentally stumble and fall or bump into someone or something, we appease them by “hitting” that particular person or thing just so the kid will stop crying. Revenge.

**Last month, I accidentally flipped a 6-year-old boy’s sketch pad and I got so disturbed with the contents:
– common concept of his drawings is war
– he depicts himself as the hero holding a gun and everyone else (usually in a form of a squad or myriad of animals) his enemies
– he illustrates the household helpers as some funny creatures belittling them with words such as “stupid and ugly”
– he depicts himself as the greatest and always above anyone else
– common words that are written as captions: “bobo (stupid), ugly, enemies, kill, bad”

But what surprised me most were two lines in different pages that says: “I will kill all of (his school name here)“. And another one “I will kill ___ and ___ (names of his classmates)”. Later on, I learned that these 2 particular classmates pushed him in school that day.

Where could have this kid learned and got all these?

One time he ran to his Mom crying:
Kid: Mommy, they’re bullying me.
Mommy: Eh why kasi are you playing with them? Eh they don’t love you naman. If they don’t love you, don’t love them, too!”

Ditto!…the question is answered.

  1. It’s terrifying when you are confronted with this. Are you going to do something, talk to someone? The kid probably IS being bullied but where did he learn the hate he feels?

I hope you turned that notebook in to someone who would properly deal with him before it becomes serious like Columbine. That is not normal kid behavior.
